November - December 2025
Parent Group for Anxious Children
Do you have a child who is experiencing symptoms of Anxiety and/or OCD? Are you confused on how to help them in the most effective way? Do you feel no matter what you do, their anxiety does not improve?
You are not alone.
Join other parents in similar situations to your own for our next 6 week SPACE Therapy Group held in November and December 2025 ONLINE. In this group you will be empowered to support your child’s anxiety by going through a structured, evidence-based, practical, small group treatment program. This program can be the crucial element to a child’s anxiety being better managed, without them needing to directly participate in therapy themselves. If your child attends their own therapy, this will supplement their work.
This group is based on an intervention called ‘SPACE’ (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions.
What is SPACE?
SPACE is an evidence-based program developed at Yale University to help children and teenagers overcome anxiety. Unlike traditional approaches that focus directly on the child, SPACE works through parents.
How it Works
When a child is anxious, it’s natural for parents to step in — offering reassurance, changing routines, or avoiding triggers. While this helps in the short term, it often strengthens anxiety over time.
SPACE gives parents practical tools to:
Reduce accommodations that feed anxiety
Respond with both empathy and confidence
Support their child to become more resilient and independent
Why SPACE?
Backed by research: Clinical studies show SPACE is as effective as CBT for treating childhood anxiety.
Child participation not required: Parents learn the skills, making it especially helpful if a child is resistant to therapy.
Focus on the whole family: SPACE reduces stress at home, builds confidence in parents, and strengthens relationships.
What to Expect
SPACE will be delivered over a series of 6 sessions. Parents will:
Identify how anxiety shows up in their child’s life
Recognise and gradually reduce accommodations
Learn supportive responses that empower their child
Create lasting changes that reduce anxiety and increase confidence
Learn Anxiety coping techniques to support their child
